Birmingham’s Hidden Spaces

Birmingham’s Hidden Spaces is a project by Associated Architects, RIBA West Midlands and the Birmingham Post that reveals the secrets hidden behind the façades of Birmingham. It aims to show a different side of Birmingham – one not normally seen by the public and at the same time reveal the people and stories that have shaped its history.

For Heritage Week, one of the highlights will be an exclusive opportunity to visit the New Street/Mailbox Tunnels (entry via a competition). Birmingham’s Hidden Spaces will also be offering behind the scenes access to a few of Birmingham’s hidden architectural treasures as part of the National Heritage Open Days, such as: The Birmingham Municipal Bank, Big Brum (the Council House Clock Tower), Christopher Wray Lighting, Severn Street Masonic Hall, Perrott’s Folly, Electric Cinema, New Alex Theatre and Curzon Street Station.
